A woman is raped and onlookers record it: the story beyond the outrage

The story of a woman raped on a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transport Authority (SEPTA) train in Philadelphia while onlookers reportedly recorded video with their cellphones but did not intervene or call 911 is mind-bogglingly horrific. It suggests not only a total disregard for women's safety and wellbeing, but social disintegration; a disturbing impulse to filter terrible events through the lens of entertainment and shock value, and the disturbing ability to dehumanize suffering by mediating it through a screen.

Confronting Kyrsten Sinema in a bathroom was outrageous

Last week, activists posted a video of themselves following Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona into a public bathroom at the university where she teaches -- right to the door of her stall -- to protest her stance on immigration. As a woman who vehemently disagrees with Sinema's opposition to President Joe Biden's proposals, I'm outraged and incredibly concerned by this abusive and counterproductive tactic -- and by the failure of her male colleagues to call it out.

Man accused of killing pharmacist brother for giving Covid-19 vaccine

A Maryland man accused of killing his pharmacist brother, his sister-in-law, and an 83-year-old woman told his mother he wanted to "confront" his brother over "him administering COVID vaccines," according to charging documents CNN affiliate WBAL obtained from Howard County District Court.
