Just a week ago, it seemed hard to imagine that the Supreme Court, with its conservative supermajority, was ready for a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. After all, the justices had been considering a Mississippi abortion case since September without saying a word.

Here's what pollsters think happened with 2020 election surveys

For the past six months, pollsters have investigated why surveys conducted ahead of the 2020 presidential election systematically underestimated support for Donald Trump. National polls in that election, despite generally pointing to the winner, saw the highest level of error since 1980, according to preliminary research presented Wednesday at a polling industry conference. In 2017, I had stated this simple fact -- that the GOP litmus test shifted from fidelity to conservative policy principles and ideals to loyalty to the man -- and little has changed since then. What remains so utterly gobsmacking is the GOP's doubling down on Trump loyalty after his two presidential defeats (including in the popular vote), two impeachments, the loss of the House and Senate and an insurrection brought on by his assault on the constitutional order.

Opinion: This Mother's Day, join the fight against pediatric cancer

This is my first Mother's Day without my 2-year-old son, Blake. It's been 25 days since he died in my arms after battling brain cancer for nearly a year and a half. I've received supportive messages from family, friends and strangers reminding me that I will always be Blake's mom. But every day — and especially today — I mourn the daily joys of being Blake's mom that pediatric brain cancer stole.
